viga4girls Site Help/Info
This Help section provides information and guidelines to help you use the viga4girls site. It covers the following topics:
  1. Navigation & organisation
  2. Browser/Technical considerations
  3. Cookies For on-line shop help click here.
1: Navigation & organisation
While, it is hoped, navigating the site should be straightforward and obvious, it is worth making clear the way the site is structured and how to get around it.

There are 3 types of navigation bar:

  • Banner navigation
  • Main contents
  • Page top menu (quicknav)
These are explained in the following paragraphs.

The banner navigation menu, consists of a static set of links under the viga4girls site banner. Most of these open a popup window like this one.

On the left side of the screen is the main contents navigation bar, showing a list of the subsections into which the site content has been divided. Clicking on one of these links navigates to the first page in the subsection.

If Javascript (see below) is enabled in your browser, you will see that most of the entries (for subsections having 2 or more pages) have a small red arrowhead () next to them. Clicking on the arrow should display a submenu for easy navigation to pages within the subsection.

Clicking on an open submenu arrow will close the submenu. When you open a submenu, any submenu already open should close.

The third type of navigation consists of a set of link on the top of each page. This provides the means of moving between pages within a section. There will be a "greyed" entry for the page you are currently on.

2: Browser/Technical considerations
Care has been taken to make the site viewable to a wide audience.
However,because of:
  1. differences between different browsers
  2. differences between different versions of the same browser
  3. variability of browser configurations
  4. variations in computer and display setups
some viewers may experience problems, or not get the best out of the site.

With respect to points a and b above, the site is best viewed using Internet Explorer (v4 and later ), Opera (v5 and later), Mozilla Firefox and Netscape (v4 and later, preferably v6 upwards).

(Because of the way some older versions of Netscape treat form elements, (some) forms may appear exaggeratedly wide in those versions.)

Addressing point c: we advise having Javascript enabled. Although the site will work without it, having Javascript on adds some functionality (such as navigation submenus as described above). It allows for, at least basic, validation of form data before sending the form. This is quicker than having to send your (erroneous) data to a web server, only to be told it contains errors and having to try again (perhaps several times).

Javascript is also used to control the display, sizing and management of popup windows for forms and information: without this control, you might have more browser windows opened, or not notice that a page has opened in a minimized window.

Also, where your browser allows switching style sheets support on and off,, you should enable it. (NOTE: in some versions of Netscape, disabling Javascript also effects style sheets.)

Finally, point d. We have designed the site to be viewable, in a maximized browser window at a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600. For easier viewing, we recommend a higher resolution, upto 1024 x 768. And we further advise that you set your display's colour depth to at least 16-bit, though 24 or 32-bit would be better.

For the purposes of security, we would advise you to disable your browser's "autocomplete" or "autofill" facility for forms, to prevent your credit card details from being stored by your browser. Having Javascript on should also prevent this (in some browsers).

3: Cookies
In order to track and maintain the contents of your shopping basket, it is necessary for us to set a cookie in your browser.

This is a session cookie, meaning that it only lasts until you close your browser down, and does not contain any sensitive details. We may store your name and address details in a long-term cookie so that they can be used to automatically prefill a form for you, but we won't store your credit card details.

Check that your browser/firewall settings allow cookies for any VIGA sites that request it. In particular, the domain viga-shop.com is the one that requires a cookie for tracking your basket contents.
